Wilson retornaria para a nona temporada de The Walking Dead, segundo anunciado na New York Comic Con. Os detalhes sobre a morte do ator não foram revelados.
O ator estava bem ativo no circuito de Comic Con nos EUA nos últimos tempos. Vale lembrar que o personagem Hershel deixou a série na quarta temporada, quando foi decapitado pelo Governador. Entretanto, seu retorno na série aconteceria no episódio de despedida de Rick Grimes.
